Add your own controls, rename them, rearrange them to match your needs or to mimic your physical MIDI controller, use the macro Editor to process the input signal with complex curves and more. performer.png The *Controls section* on the top left lets you add one of the six available control types. Each device can have up to 48 controls. The *Edit* button allows you to reposition the controls. A *right mouse click* will bring up a context menu with additional options such as renaming and deleting controls. The *Macro Editor* button will bring up the macro editing and output area. A set of 8 outputs are available per control and these can be mapped to anything in Live or sent to a MIDI or CV source. macros.png The *Routing* button brings up the routing window, where you can select the CV and MIDI outputs. Simply click on the *New* button to create a new snapshot, double click on it to rename it or delete it using the *Delete* button. In its default state, Variations stores everything except launched clips (this can be toggled on in the include section). The *include* section lets you toggle elements of Live in and out of the snapshot and the *Exclusions* interface allows you to selectively remove parameters or devices from the snapshot. When *Link to Clip/Scene* is turned on, clips or scenes similarly named to snapshots will trigger them. A particularly useful example would be storing presets of Instruments/FX with a clip. For instance, if you have a MIDI track labeled "To Guitar" and a MIDI clip named "Record Guitar 1," it will record an audio clip on an audio track labeled "Guitar." The duration of the recording is determined by the length of the MIDI record clip. Similarly, a MIDI clip named "Guitar 1" will position the recorded file at the same location on the corresponding audio track. Several takes can be recorded onto the same channel simply by using different record and play names. This allows for true handsfree looping and even the pre-arrangement of complete studio recordings. Please note that Live´s quantization settings must be set to 1/16th for the device to work properly. Its interface features four preset loop lengths which can be toggled on or off. *Quantize Loop Start* will quantize the time between hitting loop on and the actual start of the start. *Division Mode* enables the selection of odd steps for loop lengths.
